Georges Jeanty, artist of the first arc of Dark Horse Comics' Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8, told The Continuum that all systems are go for the book's scheduled March launch.

"I've finished the first issue," Jeanty told The Continuum on Sunday at the Motor City Comic-Con in Novi, Mich. "I hope to finish everything by December."

Jeanty said he's enjoyed working with writer and Buffy creator Joss Whedon, who hand-picked him for the project, which picks up from the end of the television series.

"He's a full-script kind of guy. Everything is there," Jeanty said. "But I will talk to him about specifics. He's very, very giving."

Jeanty was originally concerned in dealing with likenesses, but he said that's working out well.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- He wasn't a fan when the show was on the air, but Georges Jeanty loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer now.

Jeanty, who had never watched the show through its seven seasons on The WB and UPN, was Buffy creator Joss Whedon's hand-picked selection as artist for Dark Horse Comics' upcoming Buffy series, which serves as a "Season 8," picking up where the show ended on UPN.

"They were nice enough to send me the DVDs from the last two seasons," Jeanty told the Continuum. "And I really missed out on something, how good it actually is and how comic-related it is."

Looks like the cat’s out of the bag...or should we say...the Vampire’s out of the crypt?

Kaba Lounge’s own lounge lizard, Georges Jeanty (Gambit, The American Way), will be drawing the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Comic Book Series, published by Dark Horse Comics.

Buffy fans and comic book collectors know that Dark Horse Comics have been publishing Buffy comics for a while. They also know that Buffy enjoyed 7 seasons on the WB network, plus spun-off the UPN series "Angel"- so why is there so much hype behind this upcoming comic book series?

Well, if you haven’t heard, and shame on you if you haven't, Buffy series creator Joss Whedon will be writing the book. Plus, more exciting news... it will pick up right where the series left off. That's right- the 8th season of Buffy will be in comic book form!

Buffy fans all over the world can now unite in a collective sigh, knowing that they’ll finally find out what happened to the Scoobies after the last episode of season 7. The series finale left
Buffy, Xander, Willow, Faith, Giles and Dawn at the edge of the hell mouth that used to be Sunnydale, now a sunken hole several miles in radius.

We here at "The Lounge" would never want to be the ones to give away any secrets about upcoming events, but let’s just say that... Buffy has been busy! To say any more would surely mean being on the business end of a wooden steak from Joss and Dark Horse.

We can say, you wont be sorry you picked up this new series. The comics has given Joss a chance to write Buffy as if the show had an unlimited budget, and believe us, fellow fiends, he makes good use of it! Why just in the first issue Buffy is…sorry, almost let something slip there!

Kaba Lounge is proud to be the hip source for Georges to showcase all of his work on Buffy. He’s as giddy as a school girl about this project and is looking forward to kicking off what will surely be a thrilling and gruesome ride in the exploits of everyone’s favorite Vampire Slayer (but that’s no excuse for him to be wearing that spaghetti strap tank top with the Buffy logo on the front, around the lounge)!

So get your wooden stakes ready, and be sure to come back to this spot for sneak peaks, updates, and other ghoulish delights!
